Area rugs are a great way to break up a space and define each area in your home. It is also a great way to make your home feel cozy and inviting. But, how do you pick the right size and placement?
When choosing your area rug for your living room, you want to make sure the front of your furniture sits on the rug itself. You want to avoid an area rug that is too small and only large enough to hold your coffee table or ottoman. The same idea will apply to your dining room as well. The area rug should extend at least 24" from the edge of the table. Selecting one that size will make sure your chairs will rest on the rug. For your bedroom, you want to make sure the area rug is placed at the front of your end tables and extends past the foot of your bed. Your feet should rest on the area rug when you're getting out of bed.
By following these simple rules, your space will feel larger even tho you are taking up more real estate. This will make your home more pleasing to your eye and flow from space to space.
