Curtain Placement Do's and Don't

Curtain placement is key to making your home look grand. The correct placement can change the look entirely of your windows and decor. In this blog segment, you will learn what to do and what not to do when hanging your curtains.

Make sure you do not place your curtain rod right above your window frame. You want it ideally 2-3 inches from the ceiling or your crown moulding. By doing this, it will make your window look large and grand. It will also make your ceiling height appear much taller since you a bringing the eye up.

The width of your curtain rod also plays a big part in how large your window looks. It is a good idea to get a rod that is 8-12 inches wider than your window. This again will make your window look much larger than it actually is. It is also a great feature that you can pull your curtains completely off to the side to let in all that natural light.

Not only does the placement matter but also the size of your curtain panels. Do not pick panels that are too short. They should either hover about on 1/2" of the floor, just kiss the floor or puddle on the floor. Having them too short will cut down your ceiling height and also make your window look stumpy. Make sure to never use just one panel either, it will make the window appear lopsided. Even on narrow windows, you want two panels one on each side. If your window is wider, feel free to even use two panels on each side!

Following these decor tips and tricks will ensure your home looks it's absolute best. Just these little subtle changes can completely change the look of your home. If you are looking for more guidance be sure to check out my other posts.
